Retrograde Reflections

Mercury is retrograde again, this time in Aries, our fearless leader of the zodiac, and beacon of Spring, the I am that I am. What does this have to do with design? When we relate to our spaces through the lens of the seasonal energies, we can gain insight into where to put our focus. Retrogrades are nothing to fear! Mercury is the planet of communication, commerce (ie. mercantile is an associated word), and is known as a psychopomp, an archetype who can traverse between the realms, particularly to the underworld and back, bringing messages. So, this spring, while the world is an overwhelming place to behold, take these few weeks as an opportunity to tune into all the RE things.

Renew your relationship to the Earth, the land, the plants, the space you inhabit. Get outside and reconnect with Nature. Restore your senses. Relax into the places of refuge and restoration you’ve created for yourself and your loved ones, human or furry friends. Reflect on your path, and revise where necessary. Reclaim  your space with intention. Reimagine a space that holds your life with ease, peace, and joy at the center. Remember that your home (or office)  is one the few places we truly have control and influence over. Recommit to your heart’s true desire, and it’s creative expression.  Engage in activities that are regenerative.  Cultivate spaces that nurtures you at rest. Rejoice in the moments of repose that you are allowing yourself to receive. Recognize what needs to change in your space. Refresh a space in your life that you’d like to spend more time in. Revamp your daily routines for greater well-being, whether cooking a nourishing meal, finding yourself on the yoga mat, or taking a rejuvenating soak in the tub.  Reconsider your sense of place. Make time to retreat and recreationReset your circadian rhythm with a bedroom refresh, sleep hygiene, and morning routine. Reflect on the built environment around you. Is it supportive of your well-being? Let yourself be reborn this spring, and release what is no longer supportive of your priority. Allow yourself to recuperate.  Rejuvenate your space with a deep spring clean. Revise your plans to renovate or remodel!
